Scoliosis

ScoliosisThe extreme humps, valleys and curvature of the spine that make up SCOLIOSIS  can, in most cases, be corrected with The Vance Stance®. Without bracing or surgery, you will learn how to lengthen and flatten the incorrect way of standing, moving, and holding yourself that had allowed scoliosis to take hold. You must re-align your entire body to undo the curvature of the spine.

Contrary to what many other professionals might say - to put a brace on the person or to do invasive surgery - Dr. Bonner has had outstanding results with her technique to straighten and flatten the entire body to reduce greatly the appearance and pain of scoliosis. If you have other spinal curvatures like kyphosis and lordosis, you can follow the following guidelines, too.

In The Vance Stance, Dr. Bonner states that it is what you do below the hips that determines the ease and balance above them. Therefore, scoliosis patients must first learn to open the lower half of the body by teaching the leg joints to bend and not lock the legs straight.

A Movement suggested here is called Heel Drop on Stairs (page 94-95, The Vance Stance) which can be download here.

Other Movements for Scoliosis clients include:

  • Leg on Railing (page 112-113), which is designed to first open the back of your legs. You then do the following three Movements that help to open your shoulders and neck:
  • Doorway Stretch (page 90-91)
  • Arms Behind on Railing (page 92-93)
  • One Arm Overhead, Lean to Side (page 98-99)

Lastly, try the series for the back:

  • Pelvis Flatten and Arch (page 142-143)
  • One-Leg Roll-Down (page 146-147)
  • Roll-Down, Legs Together (page 148-149)
