But all of that has changed since I started doing The Vance Stance. The pain in my mid-back is gone and my posture is straight. If I remember to do what Vance taught me, and keep my shoulders back and down, my left shoulder doesn't flare up nearly as often or as intensely. I am much more flexible, and I notice that I am stronger and don't tire as easily.

Over the years, I have tried all kinds of things to improve my posture: modern dance classes, yoga, tai chi, chi gung, Rolfing, and cranio-sacral therapy. Each of these modalities helped, but nothing has come close to transforming my body the way The Vance Stance has."

"Vance is a fabulous instructor. The methodology of her program is leading to very positive results for me."

"Learning and practicing the exercises and stance of The Vance Stance has been the best thing that I have done in a long time. I had been taking yoga classes for years, but found that I wasn’t getting more flexible. I found that I had been "creatively cheating" so I wouldn’t get the stretches in the places I needed them. I was not doing the exercises correctly. Over the last two years Vance taught me that there are steps to go through to regain my flexibility. My posture has improved and my aches and pains of aging have gone away. I am able to lead a very active life that would not be possible without the improved flexibility and posture. Vance is an excellent instructor, who individualizes her classes, meeting the needs of all of her students. She challenges students who are more flexible and also patiently works with patients with serious physical problems. Thank you, Vance."

"My 77 year old father has been going to Vance Bonner’s classes in The Vance Stance for nearly 2 years. His shoulders are starting to go back and down, and he is loosing his hump. His improved flexibility and posture have made it possible for him to lead an active life. In the midst of taking classes, he was involved in a head-on auto collision that left him pretty crippled up with a broken leg and other injuries. Vance worked with my father to regain his flexibility, knowing just what to do each step of the way. She was very patient with him, but also pushed him just enough. It is wonderful to see my father stand straight and tall again."

"In 5th grade, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. For the next 6 years, I saw an orthopedic doctor and physical therapist. I was given three basic exercises to do daily and did them consistently.

Since then, family and friends have told me that my one shoulder droops. A couple of years ago, I was told by family and friends that I was hunching over and that my shoulder was still drooping.

This Spring, my mother encouraged me to attend one of Vance's one day classes. I came away sore, but enthusiastic. In April, I started taking Vance's weekly classes and since then, I have noticed a change in my overall posture as well as my energy level. Others have remarked on my change in posture as well. I realized that I was hunching my shoulders up and forward, when to improve my posture I should be dropping my shoulders back and down! What a difference I can see in the mirror! The shoulder area is only one of the areas I am experiencing change in my body. I have decided to continue with Vance's classes over time. If I miss a class, I really notice. After class, I always feel energized and I am affirmed that continuing in Vance's class is the answer for me as I approach age 50!

Another note: I am a teacher by profession. I have taken a variety of exercise classes over the years, but Vance and her techniques surpass any experience to date. Vance is truly a teacher. She begins working with each person as an individual and takes them forward. Each student gets an equal amount of her time and she never wastes a minute of class. She has high, but reasonable expectations and she is very motivational and encouraging. She has a real gift for sharing what she knows in such a way that the student "gets it", feels successful and is ready to learn more."
